Who we are

The Psychedelic Consultancy is a hub of networking, mentorship and guidance for psychiatrists, psychologists, health professionals, government and non-government organisations, in service of the emerging psychedelic assisted therapy landscape in Australia. 

Monica Schweickle is the founder of the Psychedelic Consultancy. She is a clinical psychologist, MDMA assisted therapist and psilocybin assisted therapist, with 20 years’ experience in diverse mental health settings. Monica known for her practical and collaborative approach, drawing upon years of experience in mental health care program directorship and development. She is an experienced trauma therapist, mother, yoga and meditation teacher and psychology board approved supervisor. She was also the first psychologist in the world to provide legal MDMA assisted therapy to a client with PTSD outside of a clinical trial. Her experience includes federal and state government mental health services, private mental health services, veterans and their families, domestic and family violence survivors, people experiencing addictions and adult survivors of childhood trauma. 

Our network of supervisors have demonstrated clinical experience in psychedelic assisted therapy in mental health settings, with diverse knowledge and expertise to guide great clinicians who want to become psychedelic-assisted therapists or prescribers.

  • Yes, we can provide consultancy and advice, and training.

  • Yes. The Psychedelic Consultancy was established to provide a bridge between theory and practice, adopting a mentorship model. Our clinical supervisors all have demonstrated clinical experience in psychedelic assisted therapy in mental health settings, translating psychedelic assisted therapy into real-world therapeutic services. We have experience navigating the complexities of bringing these therapies to clients.

  • The Psychedelic Consultancy Mentorship Program is an apprenticeship model offering on-the-job supervision, for practicing clinicians offering psychedelic assisted therapy in clinical settings. We do not offer formal courses in PAT, however we can recommend several courses, depending on your needs.

  • Yes, if you are working as a mental health professional. The mentorship program is a combination of clinical supervision, peer support and educational resources related to the upskilling of mental health care professionals. We recommend clarification with your accountant for further information.

  • Yes. We have expertise around how to actually set up psychedelic assisted therapy within mental health services, and can provide support and consultancy to psychiatrists and organisations around clinical governance, regulatory requirements, schedule 8 medication management and supply, ethics submissions, protocol design and therapist supervision and training regarding psychedelic assisted therapy.

  • No. The Psychedelic Consultancy is an educational platform for health professionals. Outside of clinical trials and the TGA authorised prescriber scheme, psychedelic use is not legal in Australia and as such, The Psychedelic Consultancy does not condone illicit use of any substance. We encourage people seeking psychedelic assisted therapy for treatment of mental health concerns to discuss suitability with a trusted healthcare professional.
